Sameer's home
This is Sameer's home (center). He lives with his parents, grandparents, and four siblings. Behind his home, to the right, is the rest of his slum.
sameer's illness
He was born with spina bifida. Spina bifida is a congenital disorder where the spine does not fully develop and remains open. This allows parts of the spine to protrude and results in a sac filled with fluid (pictured above). This affects the child's ability to walk, brain development, and may lead to death if infections occurs.
sameer's family seeks care
Sameer's family brought him to one of the hospitals we've partnered with to get treated. However, they were unable to afford his surgery and medication.
sameer's family learns about indorelief
The hospital staff told his family about us and referred his case to us. Dr. Patel (pictured above) is one of our volunteer doctors. All of our healthcare professionals volunteer their services and provide our patients with the best possible care.
sameer receives treatment
With the help of our donors, we sponsored Sameer's surgery. His surgery was successful. His spine was properly fused and the sac was emptied of fluid.
sameer returns home
Sameer went back with his family shortly after with his medications and post-operative therapy paid for by our generous donors. We continued providing him with medication until his incision fully healed.
